I WAS IN AN ACCIDENT WITH NO WITNESSES AND NO POLICE REPORT EVEN THOUGH THE DAMAGE CLEARLY SHOWS (AS STATED BY MY INSURANCE ADJUSTER) THAT I WAS NOT AT FAULT THE INSURANCE IS SETTLING WITH HIS COMPANY TAKING CARE OF HIS VEHICLE AND MY INSURANCE TAKING CARE OF MY VEHICLE. SHOULD I PROCEED MAKING THE CLAIM FOR REIMBURSMENT BECAUSE THE ACCIDENT IS ALREADY ON RECORD? OR WOULD IT BE BEST FOR ME TO NOT ASK FOR REIMBURSEMENT? AS I KNOW INSURANCE IS SAID TO INCREASE BASED ON CLAIMS HISTORY? ALSO HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE BEFORE THIS INCIDENT IS REMOVED FROM MY INSURANCE RECORD?
Need more info…
Is your adjuster settling with the other party because they’ve decided your at least some percentage at fault? This is what it sounds like. This is a common practice when there’s a dispute in fault. If the adjusters can’t come to an agreement and the claim is not large enough to go to arbitration, they can agree that each pays 50% of damages.
As for reimbursement, the claims already there so you should request reimbursement.
The incident is never removed, your insurance company with have a records of this for years to come.
If the other person is clearly at fault, you can tell your insurance adjuster to request a refund of your deductible (I assume that is what you want to be reimbursed) from the other company.
3 years, usually, but a non fault accident won’t have any negative effect on your rates.
