My 17yo daughter just got her graduated NJ license, skidded on wet corner, causing $1300 in damage to wheel & susp. We have $500 deductible. Can we ask our insurance co. how much our rates will go up if we file a claim, or will that automatically flag her for additional points?
There was no police report. A copy called in a “disabled vehicle” but I don’t think he even gave the licence plate.
Most likely that would automatically raise a red flag with them. After you make a call to them they will be sending the man in black to make copies of every drivers license for every person that has lived in that house. Please believe me I live in NJ as well.
Depending on the insurance co. From experience, it can screw you. NJ Manufactures is one who takes claims SERIOUSLY, so if they are your company, I would pay out of pocket, rather then even ask them.
The accident is going to be a matter of record if a police report was made. It may be that your insurance company will allow some type of relief on this if you do an out of pocket repair but don’t count on it. If no report was made then you should be able to repair this without any increase of rates.
most likely the plate number was taken down. i suggest paying out of pocket unless you want your rates to go up
