How can I get extremely cheap insurance in california?

My current company (21st century, formerly AIG auto) decided to increase my policy rate from 157/month to 283/month for no reason. I had no violations, accidents or claims of any kind.

My wife is on a foreign driver’s license.

I’ve been shopping for insurance at all the major websites (geico, progressive, state farm, allstate, essurance, etc) and all the quotes are even worse, ranging from 300 to 400 a month for similar coverage….

Where to find decent quotes?
thank you for your recommendations.

I drive a 2003 BMW M3 convertible and my wife drives a 2001 bmw wagon and I think I do not qualify for any low income program. My california license is over 3 years.

I’m not sure if you have this there, but try Shelter Auto Insurance. They’re relatively cheap here…

I assume your wife has a drivers license is from another country and not an international drivers license.

There is a low income assigned risk program. The website is the 2nd link below. You can call for an agent in your area to see if you qualify. It is only liability and for those of low income.

State Farm does give credit for 18 months of driving experience in your country. I would check with another State Farm agent. And, make sure when you ask for quotes you get all the discounts they have to offer. Ask for multi-car discount, multi-line discount, ect.

Your wife does not qualify for the California Good Driver discount because you have to have your CA license for 3 years to qualify.

You also do not say what kind of car you drive. If your driving a car that costs more to insure you might trade it in for one that costs less for insurance.

Keep shopping around and just make sure you get all the discounts you can. Make sure you ask for them.

DO NOT USE WEBSITES!! Speak to a live agent that can help you reduce your insurance rate. Websites can not do that. Only live agents with good advice can reduce your rate.

Everyone wants the cheapest auto insurance. Everyone is constantly looking comparing this auto insurance provider with this one. It’s almost like a parlor game, isn’t it. I’ve done it too. If you’ve ever gotten a speeding ticket or have a young teenager itching to drive that you’ve just added to your policy or if you’ve been involved in an accident, it can get more and more expensive, can’t it? Auto insurance is too expensive. You’re not alone. it’s true for almost every American family. You may get your queires answered here,

i would say their reason is your wifes not-USA state license. However, all you can do is get quotes from everywhere-making sure you advise of the status / typre of lcense that she holds. Try Nationwide/Allied too. why does she not obtain a US license?

http://www.AutoInsuranceEstimate.info Has a form you just fill in and it shows you different rates from different auto insurance companies. Go with which one is the least expensive. That’s what I did.
