How long do I have to file a claim on my auto insurance?

I have Progressive, was backing out of the parking garage at work and “bumped” a collum. How long do I have to let them know. I don’t have the money for the deductible right now.

I really want my car fixed. Is there a deadline to submit a claim?

Then don’t claim. You don’t have to clain if you don’t want to. Especially when there is no other person at fault for causing the damage to your car. Hense… the reason why you see soo many damaged cars on the road… they don’t claim for things that are not worth it. Your rates would possibly go up. Especially if there was damage to the city property…

You dont have to claim it, but since there was no other cars involved you can claim it when ever you want. You just want to make sure the damamage is more then the deductible cause if you claim and the damage is less, its pointless to claim it, Just pay outta pocket

you have 4 years to file the claim..your policy requires that you report the claim in a timely manner, usually within 24 hrs. progressive will come out an write an estimate and take our deductible out and leave you the difference. I am not sure how much damage you have, but it might not be worth filing. any damage to the column? if not, try and pay for your damages out of pocket. your rates will go up since this will be considered an at fault ax.

You will have to read your policy. Some policies state that you have to report w/ in 90 days.

    Check with your agent.

You could always file the claim now, and have them close the file until you have the money to pay your deductible.

Most carrier’s require you file a Proof of Claim within 91 days. May I suggest that you call, have the vehicle appraised, and just let them know that you are raising the deductible money. They can issue payment later. They can also issue payment now, since most checks will not become stale dated for 6 months.
