Is it possible to withdraw the auto insurance claim after filing?

I’ve been involved in an accident and the other person agreed to reimburse the entire expenses. I know the person before the accident happened. I called the insurance agent to withdraw the claim and the insurance agent is saying that it is not possible to withdraw a claim once it is filed. Is that true?

I have no idea why you could not withdraw the claim. As a broker, I have seen people withdraw auto claims on occasion, and home insurance claims. Call the claims office of the company, not your agen, tell them you would like to withdraw your claim as you have received satisfaction.

…and if you DON’T withdraw the claim, be sure to NOT collect anything from the other person…..you can REALLY get into hot water by doing that!

Just call the claims department and NOT your agent in this instance!

Good luck and I hope this helps!

Yup, they will come out to your house and _force_ you to take the check and cash it.

That agent should get a clue.

Perhaps what they ment was that it’s pointless to withdraw the claim from the at fault parties carrier. It’s still an at fault accident and it won’t change anything if they make a payment or don’t. So your friend should just let his/her carrier pay the loss and keep his/her own money in their pocket.
