Is state farm auto insurance allowed to deny a refund within 30 days?

I got the policy with them not to long ago. im under 25 and they had me pay an astronomical 890 for the 1st month on a beat up 1990 Chevy caprice.

my monthly rates would have been about 445. i decided to go with a broker under travelers with both me and my mom for about 150 a month. major difference.

they had me send in the declaration page of the new policy and sign a cancellation form. they said they don’t know how much of a refund i qualify for. later they talked with the “underwriter” and said i will not get any money back. not even halve.

the car was never used, it needed work and was sitting in the driveway collecting dust. the plates never used or the sticker. is this legal!?
The policy was canceled within the 1st month. you would think that you would at least get halve of that back or be prorated/short rated for the left over amount.

There must be something that can be done, charge backs, small claims, i don’t know. I’m very frustrated. They sent me bills for 445, 359 and 2000 within the 1st 3 weeks from some reason?

They clarified since i canceled im not responsible for them.

The sad part is you paid but even if you didn’t drive the car it has to be insured State farm is the worst . If you had a claim they would have paid then canceled you

If you were insured by them for the 2 months that you paid premiums for then you can’t get a refund. It makes no difference that the car was just sitting in the driveway. Read your policy on the rules for cancellation and refunds
