Should I report a car vandalism (claim) to the insurance company or not?

I have an auto insurance with $2500 deductible, recently somebody broke my car’s driver side front door glass and have stolen the laptop. Its costing me $150 to fix the glass, Off course I’ve to pay it out of pocket, because it is under deductible. But I’m afraid about reporting it to insurance company, as they may raise my insurance premium

Any time you file a claim, your rates go up, regardless of whether you get a payout or not. It wouldn’t make sense for you to file a claim in this instance, because your deductible is higher than the value of the damage. Why do you have such a high deductible anyway? You should lower it to $500 or $1000.

Well if they aren’t going to pay any of it then I see no point of contacting them about it. I guess you should contact the police about it. I am pretty sure they won’t do anything but take a statement.

The insurance company will screw you any chance they get. I had an incident last year on the interstate where an SUV ran over a retread for a tractor trailer, which kicked it into my lane. It happened so fast, but all I know is I saw it whip in front of my car. It smashed my bumper, busted my radiator, and busted my condenser coil. I had been with State Farm for seven years with no accidents and they took away my safe driver and good student discount. What that had to do with my good student discount is beyond me.

if its at your expense no need to speak to insurance co/with 2500 deduct on vandalism its usually always on you/

If the cost is less than your deductible , then no need to make the claim. They’re not going to pay for the laptop, Not all insurance companies raise your rates for a comprehensive claim.

Also, this is a public forum, you don’t get to decide what kind of answers you get. People answer as they see fit.

You are correct. The cost of repairing the glass is less than your deductible so don’t bother filing a claim on that. Do make a police report. While the stolen laptop is NOT covered by your auto policy (contents of the car aren’t covered by auto insurance) , it is covered if you have a home owners, or renters policy. Make a claim there.

$150? I wouldn’t even bother to report this claim since it wasn’t a moving accident. Most comprehensive claims will not raise premiums.
